BrakeView Description

                 Automatic Wayside Brake Shoe Inspection System

BrakeView is a Wayside brake shoe inspection system designed as a track speed train monitoring system. Brake view is a vision based system which uses a high speed imaging system to take multiple images of every brake shoe for inspection and measurement. The brake shoe is viewed from the bottom as well as the top. Several thickness measurements are provided for each brake shoe.

Inspections in a standard system include the following:

1-      Brake Shoe Detection (existence)

2-      Brake Shoe Thickness

3-      Brake Shoe Wear Pattern

BrakeView can operate at speeds of up to 60 mph and a report is generated based on the available AEI data. The system is offered with a data base software package for brake shoe data storage, search and tracing. The data can also be integrated into the data measured by WheelView wheel profile measurement system. Such data can be used in the ECP train monitoring where broke shoe and wheel profile data are both needed.
