LazerView Handheld Device

The handheld device provided with your LazerView includes a PDA device. This PDA gets charged when the handheld charger is connected to it. Although rarely required, PDA can be reset using its reset button on its bottom (enclosure must be opened to access the reset button on the PDA). The enclosure used to hold PDA and other components is a very rugged one and it is shock, water and dust resistant. Two connectors on the bottom of this enclosure are used to connect the device to the scanner, to PC, to Charger, and to the backup battery. It is possible to connect the PC USB cable and the charger at the same time using the connector provided on the USB cable.

PDA LazerView software consists of a series of user interface menus that allows users to login, define users and their access levels, create measurement session, create cars and perform measurement. It also provides means to view measured wheels, upload measured profiles to a PC running LazerView PC program and database. Following is a description of the PDA software structure.

 LazerView Scanner

LazerView scanner is shown in the following figure. This scanner can easily be place on the wheel to be measured. Scanner consists of the following parts:

  • Main Bracket
  • Laser Enclosure
  • Housing
  • Rim Index and Pin
  • Connector
  • Holder Pins

The laser enclosure is connected through a shaft into an encoder the combination of which creates a versatile scanner. After the scanner is positioned on the wheel, the laser enclosure can be turned in the allowable range from the tread end towards flange top to complete a scan.
