 LazerView Measured Parameters

Measured Parameters :

Important wheel parameters are measured from the wheel profile data. LazerView measures the following parameters:

  1. Flange Height (Flghgt)
  2. Flange Thickness (Flgthk)
  3. Flange Slope (Flgslp)
  4. Tread Hollow (Hd)
  5. Rim Thickness (Trdthk)
  6. Wheel Diameter (Dm)
  7. Witness Groove Reading (DWG) [Optional, used in locomotives for diameter measurement]

Wheel Profile Parameters

These parameter are defined as follows:

1- Flghgt is the Flange Height and is measured as the difference in height of point C (Tape line) and point F (flange top point)

2- Flgthk is width of the flange, and is measured as the horizontal distance between point D and line AB.

3- Flgslp is slope of the flange, and is measured as the horizontal distance between E and D.

4- Hd is the tread hollow along wheel tread, measured as the difference of the maximum and minimum of the tread surface height. The maximum is searched over the interval between C and T and the minimum is searched over the interval of [C-20mm, C+40mm]. If (max-min)<=0, then Hd=0.

5- Trdthkis rim thickness that is the difference in height of point C (Tape line) and point A (End of rim pint).

6- Dm is measured as the wheel diameter at tapeline, point C.

7- DWG is the witness groove reading and is the difference in height of tapeline (Point C) and witness groove top, as shown in the above Figure.
