WheelView Description

General Description:

WheelView® a patented product in the            BeenaView® series of systems developed specifically for the automation of train monitoring and maintenance. This system can accurately monitor wheel wear on all wheels, thereby eliminating inaccurate, inefficient and unreliable manual wheel inspections. Maintenance dollars spent can easily be optimized as wheel maintenance can be scheduled when needed. The largest impact is the prevention of derailments caused by condemnable wheels.

WheelView® uses multi-camera & stereo machine vision technology to accurately and reliably measure the wheel profile and all of its relevant parameters. The system can be installed in three different configurations under the existing rails without requiring significant track modification.        WheelView Installation

WheelView can be installed in different configurations:

·        Permanent

·        Medium term (up to a few months) system

·        Temporary (few days to few weeks)

In a temporary configuration, system can be installed in one day and can be removed in a couple of hours. Such a temporary system can be used to evaluate the wheel conditions of a large fleet in a matter of days or weeks. It can then be moved into other locations for installation and use.

In such a system, all wayside equipment (the processing and control hardware) is delivered in a portable rack. An input power and a communication line will be all that is needed for such a system to be installed. All track equipment is clamped to the rail for easy installation and removal. These systems are usually delivered in a pre-calibrated form.

In a permanent system, all wayside equipment is installed in a permanent air-conditioned bungalow. Track equipment can either be installed in an air-conditioned fixed enclosures that are secured on a concrete slab or can be installed in steel ties, replacing existing ties or positioned between existing ties.

In a medium term installation, a wayside bungalow is recommended and track equipment can either be installed in a permanent fashion or can be clamped to the rail.

With all the available installation options, customers can select the system type that is most suitable for their application.
