Performance of the WheelView® system has been evaluated through extensive testing procedures. The tests were performed to determine accuracy of measurement, repeatability, reliability, ability to withstand harsh environments, maintenance requirements, AEI interface, installation procedure, surge protection, long-term performance, etc.

These tests were performed in both permanent and temporary installation sites. The following are sample graphs that show the accuracy of the measured data.

  Sample Accuracy Results:

A typical well-installed system provides an accuracy of about 99% for flange parameters and tread hollow. Generally, flange and hollow parameters are measured with an accuracy of at least %98 and rim thickness is usually measured with an accuracy of 96% or higher. Accuracy percentages show the percent of measurements falling within the declared accuracy band. The system saves the results of measurements in a database along with its identification information and its profile as an x-y graph. (above). Consecutive profile measurements of the same wheel can be superimposed to follow the wear rate and wear pattern of that wheel.
